John Richmond was born in Manchester and later moved to London, where he finished his studies at Kingston University in 1982. He immediately created a collection under his own name, and soon emerged as a leading exponent of the British avant-garde.
In 1995 he gets in touch with the Italian businessman Saverio Moschillo, whom he met ten years earlier in London, and they finally start working together, building a professional union that guaranteed an international success like they have never seen before.
The collaboration also represents the birth of a mutual understanding and has eventually lead to a deep and meaningful friendship.
The extraordinary production, the wide reaching network of Moschillo showrooms and, above all, the deep reciprocal respect and trust between the two partners are the keys to the brand’s success today.
Over and above his vocation for fashion, John has always been passionately interested in rock music, which he also injects into his creations, blending it with “street chic”, his own peculiarly irreverent style and magisterially produced prints, all, of course, with sartorial precision.
Another fundamental element of John Richmond’s philosophy is the “street culture”, as seen in such slogans as “Destroy, Disorientate, Disorder”, “Diamond Dog”, “Eat Cake”, “Wanna be your Dog”. John’s close ties with the music industry have led him to dress stars such as Madonna, Mick Jagger, Annie Lennox, Duran Duran, Axl Rose and Bryan Adams.
The current collections are organised in two lines: the main line “John Richmond” and the diffusion line “RICHMOND”, featuring both a prêt-a-porter and denim range.
The variety of products is expanding continuously: in addition to eyewear, underwear and beachwear collection, the junior line and footwear, in 2009 the launch of the “John Richmond” and “John Richmond for Men” perfumes signed the grand entrance of the brand in the beauty universe, followed shortly by “Viva Rock” young feminine fragrance.
John Richmond and RICHMOND items are entirely Made in Italy, and distributed through Moschillo’s efficient showrooms network, located in all the most important and prestigious location in Italy and abroad: Milan, Naples, Rome, Paris, Dusseldorf and New York.
